Michael Horscroft
Michael Adams (goalkeeper)
First game against Norwich:
Letchworth started strongly as usual putting in a few early goals against a good Norwich side with some great passing moves but we seemed to lose our shape in defence a little in the second half and Norwich sensing this attacked us relentlessly putting in some late goals. We eventually lost 5-4 from a very close game. The letchworth scorers were colin with 1, Nick with 2 & Jake with 1.
Second game against Peterborough:
David reinforced the team tactics for this game and from what i remember it was a scrappy game that we won 3-0. Scorers were Colin, Nick & Adam with 1 each.Goalkeeper Michael had an easy game with not too much to do as the defending was better.
Third game against EC Select:
Didn’t see much of this game as i was doing the raffle but we won 17-2. Scorers were Jake with 2, Adam with 7, Nick with 5 (one of them being a cracking penalty), Colin with 2 & Michael with 1.Goalkeeper Michael had a busy spell in the second half when the EC team were pressing hard to score but a good solid performance kept most out.
Fourth game against Ely:
There were lots of very good passing combinations in this game (training must be working) between all the lads resulting in some spectacular goals. We eventually won 14-1, scorers were Adam & Nick with 5 each, Jake with 3 & Michael with 1.Michael G/K had a good game saving a penalty the first time but it had to be retaken for some reason and he couldn’t keep it out second time around.
All the lads had a very enjoyable day and its good to see Michael Horscroft starting to get on the scoring sheet more often now, come on Franki its your turn next !
A very big well done to all the mums & dads (& Ben for refereeing) who helped make this home tournament a success ie setting up & cleaning the hall (it was filthy), timekeeping, scoreing, coaching, reffereeing, the excellent tuck shop, raffle (£40 profit from donated prizes), cleaning down & putting away afterwards and anything else iv’e missed.
This was our last home tournament for Minors at this venue but im sure our next place will far exceed the cleanliness standards of the Priory (not difficult) as long as the price is right !
