Minors Div 2 Home Tournament – 26th February

A fantastic day for the boys, winning three of their 4 matches.

The first game against Peterb, although they beat us 6 – 0, was not a true reflection of the match. We had our fair share of possession along with our fair share of shots. However, like most other sports, the rub of the green is either in your favour or not. Unfortunately it wasn’t today.

The second game against Walpole was a closer affair, our boys winning 6-4. Brad scoring 4 and Ash 2. I think we were initially a bit concerned as they had some big fast players, but once our boys got into the swing (from what I remember), we controlled the game.

Goal keeping duties were swapped in the third game against Kings Lynn, with Kai taking over admirably from Reiff. We won this game 11-7, Brad with 8 goals and Reiff with 3. Again, there were some new faces in the team, who improved the overall capability of the Kings Lynn side.

The best game was left till last, with Sudbury still upset after our win against them early in the year. This time however they had a young lad in goal that made most of the parents look physically small. This potentially could have been the difference between winning and losing. The start of the game was erratic with the lead swapping several times. Some poor decisions (not in Letchworth’s favour) by the refs lead to our passions running high. Kai maintained a good standard in goal, which cemented the team together and lead to great counter attacks. Our boys come off victor beating them 8-6. Brad scored 4, Reiff, 1 and Ash 3.

Obviously we need to score goals but without the effort from the entire team, we would not win as many as we do. The boys and Neil demonstrated a great positive mental attitude along with the physical ability to maintain high levels of energy for long periods of play.

We’re proud of them all, great team effort, great camaraderie, great communication, great support, great parents, great coach.

Great team – be proud of your achievements.
